AN EXCITING NEW SEASON FOR THE MONOCACY AQUATIC CLUB!
Please be patient during the first few weeks as we welcome many new swimmers to our club.
MAC has had an unprecedented number of try-outs for our team and we are very excited to have more than 60 new swimmers joining our club. It is especially exciting to expand our novice group and introduce new families to our sport!
To augment our current staff, we are in the process of hiring a number of new coaches. We want to keep the coach- to-swimmer ratio as low as possible. During the initial part of the season we will be evaluating a number of strategies, such as the creation of new groups, expanded hours, and more pool time.
We will have a number of challenges the first few weeks that will impact practice times and group size. First, Hood College is conducting facility maintenance which will cause some practice time changes. This is beyond our control, and we will do our best to minimize impact to the swimming schedule. Please see the schedule below, and also check the website and MAC mail regularly to be sure you receive information about changes.
Second, it will take time for coaches to become familiar with new swimmers, their goals, strengths, and areas that need improvement. It might be a little crowded at first as we learn about our new swimmers, evaluate skills, and balance our groups. We appreciate your understanding. If you have any questions or concerns, please communicate with the coach of your group, and, of course feel free to contact me or any board member.
Finally, we know that many of our families enjoy watching their swimmers practice. Please make sure that you dispose of any trash and keep the facility clean!!
This is an exciting year for our club. Last year we finished second in the Maryland State Championships, broke many club records, and had swimmers compete successfully on the national level. We look forward to building on this success and having each and every one of our swimmers achieve their goals and aspirations. And especially, have fun!
