MAC News for 03/14/08
This is the MAC News for Friday, March 14th. Please be aware this will be the last news until after the break.
Someone left the pool last evening with all of Lauren James' clothes. Needless to say, it was a very chilly ride home. If your swimmer happened to pick up Lauren's white Limited Too t-shirt and her pink skort with polka dots on it, please return them to Lauren ASAP. Lauren's mom may be reached at toni@jamesonline.us.
You have 3 more chances to see MAC Senior swimmer Jamie Hyrkas as the lead in Tuscarora High School's production of "Footloose." For those of you interested in taking in a performance, shows are scheduled for tonight and Saturday at 7:00 pm. There is also a matinee performance at 1:00 pm on Saturday. All shows are at Tuscarora High. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students.
The meet notice for the NBAC 10&U Championships (http://www.mdswim.org/Schedule/2008_NBAC_MD_Swimming_10&U_Championships.doc), March 29th and 30th at UMBC has been posted. This meet is open to ALL OF OUR 10 and UNDER SWIMMERS. All entries, along with a check to cover the fees ($21 for one day, $39 for both), are due to the meet entry folder by 6:00 pm TODAY.
Please note that because of this meet, the Novice groups will resume practice after the spring break one day earlier, on Tuesday, March 25th, to allow for 2 days in the water before the meet. These practices will be at the normal time BUT will be in the bubble to allow the swimmers an opportunity to work on the starting blocks.
Don't forget, if you pay your dues on the installment plan, the final payment of the trimester is due by Saturday. You may leave your payment in the Dues folder in the bubble or mail it to our treasurer, Fred Manning, at 8439 Rocky Springs Road Frederick, MD 21702. If you have any questions regarding your bill, Fred may be reached at fredmanning@comcast.net.
Here is a date to put on your calendar now - Sunday, May 4th. That is the day (actually evening) MAC will be hosting our annual banquet. More details to follow.
Don't forget that Monday will be the last practice of the short course season. All groups will be off for about a week. As mentioned earlier, the Novice groups will return to practice on Tuesday, March 25th. Regular practice for everyone else will resume on Wednesday, March 26th (or Thursday, March 27th if the group does not normally practice on Wednesdays).
If you are interested in following the MAC swimmers at the Speedo Champions Series meet (Sectionals), live results may be found here - www.pvswim2.org/realtime/2008EZR2_SpringSectionals/. We have swimmers competing today through Sunday.
Live results for the NCSA Junior National meet will also be available (probably) here - ncsassociation.homestead.com/JuniorNationalsMain.html. Competiton begins on Tuesday and continues through Saturday.
With the exception of those swimmers who are still tapering, all practices through next Monday will be normal - Senior Red and Black from 4:00-6:00 today and Monday and from 7:00-9:00 on Saturday, Senior White and Prep from 5:45-8:00 today and Monday and from 9:00-10:30 on Saturday, Age Group II from 6:00-8:00 today and Monday and from 9:00-10:30 on Saturday all in the bubble. Age Group I will in the indoor pool from 4:30-6:15 today and Monday and from 7:30-9:00 on Saturday. Finally, Novice will swim in the bubble from 10:30-11:30 on Saturday. The taper swimmers will swim from 4:00-5:30 today, from 7:00-8:30 on Saturday, and are asked to swim 1,500 yards on their own on Sunday.
Best of luck to all MAC swimmers competing this weekend or next week. "Break a leg," Jamie!
